Lucas (knee) is on track for Week 1, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Lucas is working his way back from knee surgery that he underwent at the end of the 2023 regular season, so it's encouraging that there's no real concern from the Seahawks about his status for Week 1. The expectation will be for him to start at right tackle when healthy.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider revealed Wednesday that Lucas underwent knee surgery following the 2023 season. Lucas started 16 games as a rookie in 2022 but battled constant knee issues last season and was limited to just six contests. It sounds like it was more of a cleanup procedure for Lucas, and he should be ready well ahead of Week 1 in September.
Lucas has been on injured reserve since suffering a knee injury during Seattle's Week 1 loss to the Rams, and after a full week of practice, he's expected to start at right tackle Thursday night. Head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that Lucas "practiced really well," and the team is "counting on him to be able to help and contribute," in Week 13's contest. With Lucas likely back at right tackle, expect Jason Peters to now serve as a backup offensive lineman for Seattle.
