Kyle Busch suffered a broken leg and a fractured foot in a viscous crash Saturday night during the Xfinity race at Daytona International Speedway.

He underwent surgery to repair the fracture on Saturday night. He will remain in the hospital for further observation.

The 10-car wreck involved Busch, Erik Jones, Chase Elliott, J.J. Yeley, Brendan Gaughan, Elliott Sadler, Brian Scott, Darrell Wallace Jr., Jeffrey Earnhardt and Cale Conley.

The race was red flagged as the track was cleaned. When it resumed, Ryan Reed went on to get his first career series win.

Kevin Harvick hit a concrete wall last year at Daytona and they were criticized for not having enough of the barrier.

Speedway President Joie Chitwood said after Busch’s crash:

The Daytona international Speedway did not live up to its responsibility today. We should have had SAFER barrier there. We did not. We are going to fix that right now.
