123,763 people in attendance — a race record — at Churchill Downs saw Lovely Maria win the 141st running of the $1 million, mile-and-an-eighth Kentucky Oaks, the biggest race of the year for three-year old fillies.
No. 7 Lovely Maria was ridden by jockey Kerwin Clark who won his first Kentucky Oaks.
Lovely Maria No. 5 Condo Commando each broke well, but Commando took control of the lead heading around the first turn. No. 6 Angela Renee was comfortably in third position and made her move to the lead coming around the far turn, but slowly faded in the stretch. No. 2 Shook Up ran down the center of the track and closed, but couldn’t match up to Lovely Maria who ran a stellar race.

No. 12 Stellar Wind
Lovely Maria won the race in 1:05.45 seconds.
No. 12 Stellar Wind went off as the favorite at 7/2 in the 14-horse field, but didn’t break well and was never a contender to win the race. she ultimately finished 4th.
After the race, jockey Gary Stevens pulled up No. 11 Sarah Sis before she could finish the race. The horse was later taken off the track back to the barn for a further medical evaluation.
