New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez became the 29th member of the 3,000 Hit Club. He collected the hit off of Detroit Tigers’ Justin Verlander in the 1st inning on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees’ faithful proceeded to give the slugger a standing ovation. Watch A-Rod collect his 3,000th hit here:

Here are the 28 other members of the 3,000 Hit Club.

Before Rodriguez, the most recent member of the exclusive 3,000 Hit Club was teammate Derek Jeter who collected his 3,000th hit on July 9th, 2011 — a home run off of then Tampa Bay Ray’s starter David Price.

Twitter reacted immediately to the home run, in style.

Rodriguez returned to the Yankees this season after he was suspended for the entire 2014 season due to his involvement in the Biogensis scandal and history of using performance-enhancing drugs. He has been predominantly healthy this season and is putting up a solid statistical season just over a month shy of his 40th birthday.

Through 61 games, Rodriguez is hitting .278 (.281 after that home run) with 13* home runs, 34 RBIs and making a case to represent the Yankees as a 2015 American League All-Star.
