In recent years sports teams have worked with members of the Armed Forces to surprise family members upon their return home, and the videos never get old. Monday night following his team’s 77-62 home win over Colgate, Notre Dame sophomore guard Matt Farrell and his family were on the receiving end of such a surprise.

Farrell’s older brother Bo, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army who was stationed in Afghanistan, surprised Matt and their parents following the signing of the Notre Dame alma mater. It started off with Bo Farrell delivering a video message that was played on the Jumbotron, with Matt and his parents under the impression that the older Farrell brother was still overseas.

That’s quite the early Christmas present for the Farrell family to receive.
