When I was with Safarova I thought that staying together a professional tennis player was the best thing for me, but there was too much tennis.

Playing every day, manage wins and losses, it is not already easy for you, let alone if you’re two to have the same problems.

Shortly after Berdych and Safarova broke up, Ester and Tomas started dating; she was just 19-years old.

After dating for five years, the pair finally got engaged in 2014 and said “I do” in 2015 in Monaco. According to Hello Magazine, the wedding was very small and just in front of “20 of their closest friends.”

After dating Safarova for so long, many were surprised that Berdych got into a relationship so fast. But the love the couple have for each other had shown, and it’s helped that Ester isn’t a tennis player, Tomas said in an interview.

One of the problems that started to cause his relationship with Safarova to strain when they dated was the fact it was everything tennis all the time. He said in the interview that he’s noticed a huge difference in his attitude and the bond he shares with Ester.

“Actually, yes, I see big difference,” he said. “I mean, in the past I was saying that it’s probably the best thing just that we are both from the same thing. I didn’t have any other experience.”

Berdych added that the relationship he has with Ester is special because it allows him to appreciate the smaller things more often.

“Now I can say that this one is way better because, you know, I think it was too much tennis,” he said. “If you do it like myself, and I’m dealing with everyday work that you have to play, practice, organize this stuff, then winning, losing, handle this situation, it’s quite tough to have it from one side. If you have to deal with the same thing from the other side, it was quite too much.

“So I’m really enjoying that, that it’s different, that I met somebody with a different life. It’s a nice experience.”
