LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau may be expanding his playing schedule beyond the embattled breakaway league, according to new reporting.

As LIV Golf navigates bankruptcy proceedings and attempts to rebuild under a new structure, DeChambeau’s management team has reportedly contacted the DP World Tour about potential tournament appearances.

According to James Corrigan of The Telegraph, DeChambeau’s representatives have reached out to officials at Wentworth to discuss additional events in which the two-time major champion could compete.

The development comes as DeChambeau prepares for his already-confirmed appearance at December’s Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa, which will mark his first regular DP World Tour appearance in nearly six years.

Although there is no indication that DeChambeau intends to become a DP World Tour member, the reported discussions raise interesting questions about his future schedule amid LIV Golf’s ongoing uncertainty.

Bryson DeChambeau’s Team Exploring DP World Tour Appearances

In Corrigan’s article in the Telegraph, he examined DeChambeau’s importance to LIV’s future. With Jon Rahm rejecting the LIV 2.0 structure and Sergio Garcia seeking an exit, Bryson’s future is becoming an increasingly important question for the league.

DeChambeau’s return to the DP World Tour comes at an interesting time, with LIV Golf facing mounting uncertainty over its future.

That being said, Corrigan’s reporting suggests DeChambeau is keeping his playing options open, though it does not establish that he is preparing to depart LIV.

Corrigan specifically noted that there has been no indication DeChambeau plans to join the DP World Tour as a member.

If he were to change his mind, there is a November 1 membership deadline for players seeking to join for the upcoming season, according to Corrigan. What this means is that DeChambeau isn’t necessarily preparing to leave LIV just because he is playing a DP World Tour event.

Still, the development adds another layer to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the professional golf landscape.

DeChambeau Already Confirmed for December Tournament

While the potential additional appearances remain uncertain, one DP World Tour event is already on DeChambeau’s calendar.

The Nedbank Golf Challenge officially announced in August that the American would participate in its December 3-6 tournament at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa.

DeChambeau was included among the first five confirmed competitors, alongside Justin Rose, defending champion Kristoffer Reitan, Casey Jarvis and Marco Penge.

The tournament will mark his debut at the event and his first regular DP World Tour appearance in almost six years.

With his management now reportedly discussing other DP World Tour starts, the Nedbank appearance could prove to be more than a one-off tournament.

However, no additional appearances have been confirmed.

LIV Golf Faces Important Decision Over DeChambeau’s Future

DeChambeau’s schedule is drawing increased attention as LIV Golf attempts to recover from major financial turmoil.

The organization filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after its Saudi financial backing was withdrawn, creating uncertainty about the league’s future.

LIV is now working with BC Partners on a proposed financing arrangement worth up to $300 million as it attempts to launch a restructured competition in 2027.

This arrangement, however, is highly dependent on retaining star players such as DeChambeau. So far, things haven’t looked great for LIV, and the possibility of DeChambeau expanding his schedule elsewhere adds another layer of uncertainty.

As of now, we will have to wait to see where DeChambeau ends up teeing it up next year. Still, his management has opened the door for a potential alternate path on the DP World Tour.
