Xander Schauffele of the United States poses with his wife, Maya Schauffele, and the Wanamaker Trophy after winning the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club on May 19, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Xander Schauffele found himself benched Friday afternoon at the 2025 Ryder Cup, and fans were fired up about the decision. The 31-year-old golfer, currently ranked world no. 4, is well-loved among fans, and viewers think he should’ve been in over Justin Thomas for Friday.

Whatever the reasons Captain Keegan Bradley had, the 9-time PGA Tour winner fights alongside Team USA to grab the victory from Team Europe’s current lead. An event Schauffele had to pull himself away from his growing family to attend.

Let’s take a look at his wife, Maya, and their newest addition. Here’s 5 fast facts you need to know about Maya Lowe Schauffele.

1. Maya Just Gave Birth to The Couple’s 1st Child

Notably, Xander was absent from the Procore Championship in early September. Although Schauffele was initially pretty quiet about the reason, we now know why he wasn’t in attendance. His wife Maya had recently given birth, and Schauffele chose to stay home and take care of his new family. Commenting on his family at the Ryder Cup, Schauffele said,

“It’s been awesome. I just had a kid. He was born on the 29th of August, little man. His name is Victor. That’s my middle name. No, I didn’t name him after Viktor Hovland. I was Victor way before Viktor was born. It’s been awesome. I feel very lucky to have my wife. She’s at home with him right now. I miss him a bunch. I had to sort of rip the Band-Aid when I was leaving the house, just kiss him on the forehead and walk out before I started staring at him. It’s been cool to sort of learn what it’s like to be a dad, and I look forward to everything that comes with that.”

2. They Started Dating Back in 2014

Xander and Maya met back in 2014. They both attended college in San Diego. Dating until 2020, Xander then proposed on New Year’s Eve at Torrey Pines Beach, according to his social media. The couple then wed in 2021 in a small ceremony. They married in Las Vegas, where they reside.

4. Maya is Team Xander All the Way

At the 2024 PGA Championship, Xander took home his first major championship win. His wife, Maya, was there, as she often is, cheering her husband on. Speaking with the Athletic, Maya said,

““This means everything. Everything that he has worked hard for, it just goes to show that you’ll see results if you put in the work. He deserves it more than anything. Why do I say that?  I’ve seen the dedication, the work that he puts in, the hours. Even during off weeks, there’s never an off week; they’re constantly practicing. The grind never stops.”

She is often seen outside the ropes supporting Schauffele, and was even snapped getting the party started at the 2022 Presidents Cup.
