The Atlanta Braves are set to begin a three-game set with the Detroit Tigers today. Atlanta has the best record in MLB, and has been rolling so far this season. This is the Braves last series in April, and they’ve yet to lose one yet.

Before the Tigers game on Tuesday, Atlanta announced a notable roster decision on Didier Fuentes.

Didier Fuentes Being Recalled For Tigers Series

The Atlanta Braves announced a pair of roster moves on Tuesday:

“The #Braves today recalled RHP Didier Fuentes to Atlanta and placed LHP Dylan Lee on the paternity list. Additionally, INF Ha-Seong Kim tonight begins a rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Columbus.”

CBSSports also aggregated the news, and provided some insight on his role with Atlanta this week:

“He’ll give the club some length in the bullpen for the next few days while Dylan Lee is on the paternity list. Fuentes has made one spot start and one long relief appearance for Atlanta this season, allowing five runs with an 11:2 K:BB over seven innings of work. The 20-year-old boasts a 2.16 ERA and 20:6 K:BB across 16.2 frames this season with Gwinnett”

So, Didier Fuentes will get another chance to prove his arsenal is good enough for MLB, and Dylan Lee will likely take a few days as his significant other and himself welcome a new person into this world.

The Ha-Seong Kim news is also significant because of how well the Braves have performed so far. Atlanta is paying Kim $20 million this season, so he figures to have some role with the team,  but Mauricio Dubon has played well at the shortstop position thus far.

Didier Fuentes Time with the Braves….

Fuentes is a 20-year-old prospect in the Braves organization. He has an electric fastball, and his arsenal keeps hitters off balance and force them to either chase or swing and miss.

However, command is a bit of an issue for Fuentes, and so far in his young MLB career, he’s been prone to giving up home runs.

He was thrust into the Braves rotation as a 19 y/o last season, and over 20 innings in his career, Fuentes has 23 strikeouts, eight walks allowed, and seven home runs surrendered.

Again, it’ll be interesting to see how Fuentes is used in his newest stint with the big league team. He has several options, so expect Fuentes to bounce between Triple-A and Atlanta.
