Before their series with the Tigers, the Guardians released Kolby Allard.

Tim Stebbins of MLB.com wrote (on Sunday): “The Guardians are granting Kolby Allard his release. He had an opt-out clause today, but they’re hopeful they may re-sign him.”

Allard has a 10.38 ERA in four games this season.

That said, the 28-year-old had gone 2-2 with a 2.63 ERA in 33 games during the 2025 season.

Allard’s MLB Career

Allard was the 14th pick in the 2015 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves.

He spent his rookie season with the franchise before four seasons on the Texas Rangers.

After the Rangers, Allard returned to the Braves (in 2023) and had a stint with the Philadelphia Phillies (in 2024).

Over 113 career games, he has gone 13-26 with a 5.47 ERA.

At Allard’s age (and experience level) he could be a good addition to other teams around the league for pitching depth.

It will be interesting to see if another team takes a chance on him (or if the Guardians are able to retain him).

They are 7-3 over their last ten games.

Following the Tigers, the Guardians will visit the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
