Boston Red Sox Star Roman Anthony Makes Statement

Roman Anthony finished Sunday’s loss with one walk, one run and one strikeout in four at-bats.
After the game, he made a very honest statement when he met with the media (h/t Ari Alexander of 7News Boston WHDH).
Anthony: “This is just a tough stretch… We need to find a way to just bring more energy and just be better. This is unacceptable. It’s unacceptable to the fans. It’s unacceptable to the standard that we set for ourselves.”

Anthony had come into the day batting .267 with one home run, two RBI’s and two runs.
He is in his second season after playing 71 games as a rookie.

Red Sox Right Now
The Red Sox are currently 2-7 in their first nine games of the 2026 season, which has them at the bottom of the American League East.
They will get a chance to turn things around when they remain at home to host the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
Tyler Milliken of Section 10 Podcast wrote after Sunday’s game: “2-7 after your first 3 series of the season. Nothing short of depressing.
Blew a 4-0 lead once the offense finally woke up. Biggest lead of the season. Finally scored 6 runs for the first time this year and you still couldn’t find a way to win.
Just can’t live like that when you’re about pitching and run prevention. Ranger Suarez is supposed to be an anchor. He’s failed 2 times through. Especially with a lead like that.”

The Red Sox are coming off a year where they went 89-73.
They lost in the American League Wild Card.
