Chicago White Sox Announce Roster Move Before Brewers Game

On Saturday night, the Chicago White Sox will play the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin.

They are coming off a 14-2 loss to the Brewers (on Thursday).

Before Saturday’s game, the White Sox announced that they made a series of roster moves.

The White Sox wrote: “The Chicago White Sox have activated left-handed pitcher Bryan Hudson and optioned left-hander Tyler Gilbert to Class AAA Charlotte.”

Hudson was recently claimed by the White Sox (via the New York Mets).

He has spent part of three seasons in the MLB with the Dodgers, White Sox and Brewers.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com wrote (on Friday): “Mets roster moves: The White Sox claimed Bryan Hudson off waivers, returning him to his former team.”

Gilbert’s MLB Career

Gilbert was picked in the sixth round of the 2015 MLB Draft.

He has spent part of six seasons playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies (and White Sox).

Last year, the 32-year-old went 4-2 with a 3.88 ERA in 46 games.

Gilbert had a rough outing during Thursday’s loss, finishing with two earned runs (and one walk) in one inning.

Over 81 career games, he has gone 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA.

Noah Phalen of Southside Showdown wrote: “Probably shouldn’t have let Ryan Borucki walk if you were just gonna burn Gilbert’s option one day into the season, but what do I know?”

White Sox Struggles

The White Sox are coming off another down year where they went 60-102.

They last made the MLB playoffs during the 2021 season when they reached the ALDS.
