Tyler Gilbert: Breaking News

The White Sox optioned Gilbert to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Gilbert was recalled by the White Sox ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rays, when he allowed four runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters across 1.2 innings. He'll return to Triple-A while the White Sox promote Doug Nikhazy in a corresponding move.

The White Sox recalled Gilbert from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Chicago will swap a pair of left-handed relievers on the active roster, as Gilbert comes up from Charlotte to replace Brandon Eisert, who was demoted to Triple-A. In addition to giving the White Sox another southpaw in the bullpen, Gilbert is capable of covering multiple innings when needed to mop up.

The White Sox optioned Gilbert to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. The move corresponds with the addition of left-hander Bryan Hudson, whom the White Sox claimed off waivers from the Mets on Friday. Gilbert struggled against the Brewers on Opening Day on Thursday, when he allowed two runs on two hits and one walk across one inning of work. He'll get more reps in Triple-A and could return to the majors later this season when the White Sox require additional depth out of the bullpen.
