Detroit Tigers Announce Roster Move After Recent Nationals Trade

On Tuesday evening, the Detroit Tigers will host the Boston Red Sox (in Michigan) for the second game of their series.

The Tigers most recently lost (on Monday) by a score of 5-4.

Zack Short had one strikeout (and no hits) in three at-bats.

Following the game, the Tigers have announced the decision to designate Short for assignment.

Tigers PR wrote: “The Tigers today activated INF Zach McKinstry off of the 10-day injured list. INF Zack Short has been designated for assignment.”

Short had just been acquired in a trade with the Washington Nationals last week.

Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic wrote (on May 1): “Zack Short is back in the Tigers system Tigers have acquired Short from the Nationals in exchange for either cash considerations or a player to be named later. Short will report to Triple A.”

Short’s MLB Career

Short was picked in the 17th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

He had spent the first three years of his career playing for the Tigers.

The 30-year-0ld then had stints with the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros over six seasons.

His career batting average is .171 with 87 hits, 15 home runs, 67 RBI’s, 60 runs and ten stolen bases in 243 games.
