The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a strong start to the 2026 season. At the time of this writing, the Dodgers have a 24-15 record and are at the top of the National League West standings. With this, the Dodgers should once again be buyers as we get closer to the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline.
The Dodgers’ immense success in recent seasons has been due to their aggressiveness when it comes to adding star talent. It is no secret that the Dodgers are always open to making big additions, and it has helped them win back-to-back World Series championships.
Due to this, it would not be surprising in the slightest if the Dodgers look to make at least one big splash between now and the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline. Because of this, they are now being viewed as a potential trade destination for one of baseball’s best starting pitchers.
Los Angeles Dodgers Named Potential Landing Spot for Mets’ Freddy Peralta
In a recent article for FanSided, Christopher Kline took a look at five potential trade destinations for New York Mets ace Freddy Peralta if he ends up being shopped ahead of the deadline. With Peralta being in the final season of his contract and the Mets struggling, questions about his future in New York have naturally come up.
Among the teams that Kline listed as a potential trade destination for Peralta was the Dodgers.
“This is the nightmare scenario, but with Blake Snell still on the IL — and with Rōki Sasaki and Emmet Sheehan both struggling immensely — there’s incentive for the Dodgers to be aggressive. And at $8 million, Peralta hardly breaks the bank for baseball’s richest team,” Kline wrote. “The Dodgers would be in prime position to re-sign Peralta, and maybe to target Tarik Skubal while they’re at it.”
With the Dodgers never afraid of making a bold move, it would not be shocking in the slightest if they looked to bring in a star pitcher like Peralta. It is no secret that they could use another high-impact pitcher in their starting rotation, and Peralta would provide them with just that if successfully acquired.
Despite the Mets having a bad season so far in 2026, Peralta has been very good for them. In eight starts this campaign with the Mets, he has a 3.12 ERA and 43 strikeouts. This is after he had a 17-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, and 204 strikeouts with the Milwaukee Brewers during the 2025 season. With numbers like these, he would be a massive addition to an already stacked Dodgers team.
All Eyes Should Be on Mets’ Peralta
With the Mets currently at the bottom of the National League East standings, it is clear that Peralta is a big pitcher to keep an eye on as the season carries on. While the Mets are certainly hoping to get their season back on track, they may have no choice but to deal Peralta if they do not improve.
If the Mets make Peralta available for trade, the Dodgers will have a ton of competition to land him. The two-time All-Star is exactly the kind of starter that contenders want to have on their roster.
