On Saturday, the New York Mets will continue their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
They are coming off a 3-1 victory on Friday.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote: “The Mets produced just 2 hits and 1 run in their first 9 innings. And then promptly went out and had their first three hitters produce hits and drive in 2 runs in the 10th inning for the victory. Mets 3, Arizona 1.”
Mets Sign 4-Year Player
During their series in Arizona, the Mets signed Xzavion Curry to a minor league deal (via MLB.com).
Curry’s Background
Curry was picked in the seventh round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
He spent his first two and a half seasons with the Cleveland Guardians.
In 2023, Curry went 3-4 with a 4.07 ERA in 41 games.
@metsnewsletter wrote: “The Mets signed RHP Xzavion Curry and assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse. He has a career 4.38 ERA. He last pitched for the Marlins last season.”
Curry had been with the Marlins for part of two seasons.
He last pitched in an MLB game on April 8, 2025.
The 27-year-old could be a good (low-risk) addition to the Mets organization.

Looking At The Mets
The Mets have had a tough start to the season.
They are at the bottom of the National League East with a 15-23 record in 38 games.
On the road, the Mets have gone 9-11 in the 20 games they have played away from Citi Field.
Following two more games with the Diamondbacks, they will play their next series on Tuesday night when they return home to host the Detroit Tigers.
Last season, the Mets missed the 2025 MLB playoffs.
