On Wednesday night, the New York Yankees will be back at Fenway Park for the second game of their series with the Boston Red Sox.

The Yankees are coming off a 4-0 win on Tuesday.

Giancarlo Stanton led the way with one home run and three RBI’s.

Yankees Announce New Roster Move

Before Wednesday’s game, the Yankees announced that they had made a new roster move.

The Yankees wrote (via X): “Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Placed LHP Ryan Weathers on the paternity list. • Recalled RHP Jake Bird (#59) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.”

Bird’s Career

Bird spent the first three and a half seasons of his career playing for the Colorado Rockies.

He is in his second year on the Yankees (after a trade last season).

This year, Bird has gone 1-1 with a 7.71 ERA in eight games.

The Yankees wrote (on July 31, 2025): “The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Jake Bird from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor league infielder Roc Riggio and left-handed pitcher Ben Shields.”

Weathers’ Career

Weathers is in his first season with the Yankees after spending five years with the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins.

This season, he has gone 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA in five games.

The Yankees come into Wednesday as the first-place team in the American League East with a 14-9 record in 23 games.

They are 6-4 in the ten games they have played on the road away from the Bronx.

Following two more games against the Red Sox, the Yankees will visit the Houston Astros on Friday night in Texas.
