The New York Yankees have survived another MLB trade deadline, but all eyes are now on free agent predictions.

According to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, 28-year-old Chisholm could land with the Philadelphia Phillies on a six-year, $126 million contract.
“… the Phillies arguably make the most sense here. Luis Arraez was a rental acquisition, both Alec Bohm and Edmundo Sosa are impending free agents and Bryson Stott has just one year of arbitration eligibility remaining on his contract,” Miller wrote. “And with top infield prospect Aidan Miller yet to play in 2026 due to a back injury, goodness only knows when he’ll be ready to factor into the equation.”
Chisholm is playing in his seventh year of Major League baseball, but this has not been a season for the books.
He is currently slashing .215/.293/.396 with a disappointing .689 OPS and 17 homers through 108 games. He’s posted 14 doubles, two triples and 47 RBIs.
This marks Chisholm’s third campaign with the Yankees.
Earlier in his career, he spent five years with the Miami Marlins. Once July 2024 rolled around, the Marlins traded him to New York in exchange for Abrahan Ramirez, Jared Serna and Agustín Ramírez.
This year has shown a significant drop on his stat sheet since landing with the Yankees. For reference, in 2025, he slashed .242/.332/.481 with an .813 OPS and 31 home runs over 130 games.
Miller does note the existing possibility of Chisholm “re-upping” with the Yankees, but the Phillies are likely in the cloud of options.

Heading into their second clash against the Atlanta Braves, New York is currently riding a 65-51 overall record. This places them second in the American League East.
They are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Braves on Friday night, with their next meeting scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, at 3:05 p.m. ET.
In the MLB standings, the Yankees are sixth. They trail the Chicago Cubs (68-49), the Los Angeles Dodgers (69-47), the Tampa Bay Rays (69-46), Atlanta (70-46) and the Milwaukee Brewers (72-44).
According to FanGraphs, New York has a 19.5% chance of winning their division, and an 8.9% chance of winning the World Series this year.
Once the Yankees wrap up their series against the Braves on Sunday, Aug. 9, they will host the Seattle Mariners for a three-game homestand.
The set will commence on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7:05 p.m. ET.
Later this month, New York will be facing a couple of AL East rivals, the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Specifically looking at the AL East standings right now, the Rays lead the division, followed by the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox (64-51), the Orioles (56-60) and the Blue Jays (55-62).
Teams are battling it out for postseason contention, and New York is looking to place itself in the best possible position.
