Arraez (thumb) will start at second base and bat second during Friday's game against Pittsburgh, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Arraez missed the Giants' last two games due to a sore thumb, but he seems to be feeling well enough to play Friday. The 29-year-old infielder was beginning to heat up before getting injured, slashing .341/.341/.488 with five RBI, three runs and a steal over his last 10 games.

Luis Arraez: Breaking News
Out again due to sore hand
Arraez remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres due to a sore thumb, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Per delos Santos, Giants manager Tony Vitello said Tuesday that Arraez's thumb issue initially flared up on the team's previous road trip before rearing its head again during a swing in Monday's 3-2 win in the series opener. The Giants had been hopeful that Arraez would be back in the lineup Wednesday, but he'll instead be given another day off while the team turns to Casey Schmitt at the keystone. Arraez can be viewed as day-to-day heading into Friday's series opener versus the Pirates.
Taking seat Tuesday
Arraez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Arraez went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs in Monday's series opener but will hit the bench Tuesday after a run of 19 consecutive starts. Casey Schmitt is shifting to second base to open up a spot at designated hitter for top prospect Bryce Eldridge, who made his season debut Monday.
