The New York Yankees lost two of three games in their latest series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
They’ll have Thursday off before preparing for a massive three-game weekend series in the Bronx against the Atlanta Braves.
Ahead of the series, the Yankees announced their probable starting pitchers for all three matchups.

Friday: LHP Max Fried (4-3, 3.12 ERA) vs. Tyler Mahle (3-9, 5.13 ERA)
Saturday: RHP Gerrit Cole (5-5, 3.42 ERA) vs. Chris Sale (12-6, 2.08 ERA)
Sunday: RHP Cam Schlittler (10-6, 2.26 ERA) vs. Grant Holmes (7-4, 3.67 ERA)

Friday’s matchup will mark Fried’s return to Atlanta, where he spent the first eight seasons of his MLB career.
It will also mark Mahle’s Yankees debut after New York acquired him from the San Francisco Giants on Monday before the trade deadline.
Yankees Right Now
New York will enter Friday’s game with a 64-51 record, sitting second in the American League behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who lead the division by 4.5 games.
However, since Aaron Judge suffered his injury in early June, the Yankees have gone 28-28. Judge isn’t the only player who has dealt with injuries — Giancarlo Stanton has missed months, while Cody Bellinger and Carlos Rodon remain sidelined — but New York’s struggles without him remain concerning.
The Boston Red Sox have also surged, winning 31 of their last 35 games and putting together a historic run. They have cut the once sizable gap between themselves and the Yankees to just one game following Wednesday’s action. That lead could shrink to half a game if Boston defeats the Chicago White Sox on Thursday and completes a third consecutive sweep.
If the season ended today, the Yankees would host the Red Sox in a best-of-three Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium. Given how both teams have played recently, that would be a difficult matchup for New York.
