Recently, Mitch Garver was released by the Seattle Mariners.

The 35-year-old is batting .175 with 22 hits, four home runs, 15 RBIs, 17 runs and one stolen base in 50 games this year.
He had been in the middle of his third season with Seattle.

The Yankees were a team that was expected to land a catcher at the trade deadline.
That said, they were unable to complete a move for one.
Recently, Badabooms (the producer on the Sal Licata Show) mentioned that the Yankees should consider signing Garver.
Badabooms: “Did you see that Mitch Garver got released? Why shouldn’t the Yankees go pick up Mitch Garver? I’d rather have him than Ali Sanchez.”

Garver was picked in the 9th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
He spent the first five years of his career with the Minnesota Twins.
Following his stint in Minnesota, Garver played two seasons for the Texas Rangers (and won the 2023 World Series title).

Garver has spent 10 seasons in the MLB.
In that span, he is batting .229 with 497 hits, 110 home runs, 324 RBIs, 301 runs and six stolen bases in 701 career games.
It will be interesting to see if he gets picked up before the end of the 2026 season.
