Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is being activated from the 7-day concussion injured list on Saturday, according to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson. He will be in Toronto’s lineup for Saturday afternoon’s matchup against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
Guerrero is having the worst season of his career so far, hitting just .263/.337/.356 with seven home runs and 46 RBI across 115 games.
Before Saturday’s game, Blue Jays manager John Schneider made an honest statement on Guerrero.

From Matheson: “Schneider wants to see Guerrero get back to his “normal” self: “That’s all we’re looking for, nothing crazy. It would be great if he went on one of those crazy heaters like he did in the postseason, but it’s about hitting the ball hard, playing defense and being Vlad.””
We all know Guerrero can be much better than he has been this year.
Last season, Guerrero hit .292/.381/.467 with 23 home runs and 84 RBI across 156 games.

During the Blue Jays’ postseason run in 2025, Guerrero slashed .397/.494/.795 across 18 games.
Remarkably, Guerrero hit eight homers during last year’s playoffs, and has hit just seven this season.

Guerrero has dealt with numerous injuries this year, which may help explain his struggles.
He recently missed time with a hamstring issue and backed out of the All-Star Game after being voted in as the American League’s starting first baseman due to a back problem.

Toronto signed Guerrero to a 14-year, $500 million extension in spring 2025.
In his eight-season MLB career, Guerrero has a slash line of .286/.363/.481 with 190 home runs and 637 RBI.

The club is 14 games back of the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East standings.
