Angels Cut Ties With Former MLB All-Star

Before Tuesday’s game, news came out that the Angels are releasing Jordan Romano.
Angels PR wrote: “RHP Shaun Anderson cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake. He has elected free agency.
RHP Jordan Romano cleared release waivers and is officially a free agent.”
Romano went 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA in 11 games for the Angels this season.
The 33-year-old had been designated for assignment earlier this week.
Bill Shaikin of The Los Angeles Times wrote: “In the morning, the Angels cut Jordan Romano, who started the season as their closer. In the afternoon, their bullpen gave up eight runs in five innings, in a game the Angels led 6-0 after two innings. Angels bullpen ERA: 5.34.”
Romano’s MLB Career

Romano was picked in the 10th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
He spent the first six years of his career playing for the Toronto Blue Jays.
In 2022 and 2023, Romano made back-to-back All-Star Games.
Shaikin added (on April 26): “2022: All-Star (Blue Jays). 2023: All-Star (Blue Jays). 2024: 6.59 ERA (Blue Jays). 2025: 8.23 ERA (Phillies). 2026: 10.13 ERA (Angels).”

Over 291 career games, Romano has gone 22-23 with a 3.92 ERA.
It will be interesting to see if another team is going to take a chance on him.

The Angels are currently 12-18 in 30 games, which has them as the fourth-place team in the American League West.
They are 7-11 in 18 games on the road.
