The Toronto Blue Jays got a positive injury update on Trey Yesavage.

The Toronto Blue Jays are one of a handful of MLB teams with playoff aspirations that are off to a slow start this season. Toronto, after dropping game one of a three-game weekend set to the Cleveland Guardians, is now 10-15. The biggest storyline surrounding the Blue Jays in the early going is the number of arms that are on the Injured List.

After making a deep playoff run last season (to the World Series), several frontline Blue Jays starters have needed some extra time to prepare for the 2026 season. One of those arms is Trey Yesavage, who was a huge piece to the Blue Jays’ October success in 2025. On Saturday, before the Guardians game, Toronto got some good news regarding Yesavage’s status.

Trey Yesavage Set to Make Season Debut on Tuesday

Per Blue Jays reporter Keegan Matheson, Trey Yesavage will make his 2026 season debut on Tuesday of next week.

@ShiDavidi wrote (on April 25): “Trey Yesavage will return from IL on Tuesday to start vs Red Sox, said manager John Schneider. That will bump Eric Lauer to the bullpen. Blue Jays also adjust rotation, with Patrick Corbin starting Sunday and Dylan Cease pushed to Monday.”

Eric Lauer moving to the bullpen is also a big development. It was definitely obvious that he would be the arm moved into a reliever role, given his experience, but Lauer’s move to the bullpen should help extend Toronto’s pitching staff depth.

Trey Yesavage’s Time with Blue Jays

Trey Yesavage emerged as one of the Blue Jays’ top starters after his call-up. He was a first-round pick out of East Carolina University in 2024. Yesavage swiftly moved through the minors due to his tall 6-4 frame, electric fastball that can get up to 100 MPH, and a wipeout slider.

He made three starts during the regular season for the Blue Jays in 2025.

After impressing in those handful of starts, Yesavage then made five starts in the MLB playoffs with Toronto to solidify his spot in the starting rotation. He turned in a clutch seven-inning performance against the Dodgers in the World Series.

Yesavage pitched a total of 27.2 innings in the postseason and gave up 11 earned runs while striking out 39 batters.
