Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are reeling, relatively speaking, considering they have seen three players leave practice on Friday, with Matt Henningsen’s departure sparking a run that later consumed Marvin Mims Jr. and Nate Adkins.
For Mims, the development is particularly unfortunate among the latter two after he narrowly avoided a similar fate during Thursday’s practice.
Now, the Broncos will try to get healthy as they progress through training camp.
All-Pro Marvin Mims, Fellow Veteran Exit Broncos Training Camp Practice
“Marvin Mims pulled up after deep route thrown by Stidham,” 9News’ Mike Klis reported on X on August 7. “Stidham sitting on a cooler talking to trainers. Walking into trainers room with Nate Adkins.”
Broncos cornerback Riley Moss fell on Mims in practice on Thursday. The All-Pro returner was expected to be fine and was, as evidenced by his participation on Friday.
“Just a rough day of #Broncos camp,” The Denver Post’s Luca Evans posted on X in reaction.
Mims is a former second-round pick, who has earned two Pro Bowl nods and a First Team All-Pro on special teams, while hoping to carve out a larger role in the Broncos’ offense beyond being a gadget option and occasional deep threat.
Adkins is a tight end by trade. However, he has also logged snaps as a fullback/H-back for the Broncos in his three seasons.
The former undrafted free agent has 17 starts in 36 games. Mims has 13 starts in 48 games.
