Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs is living through the best chapter of his young career. After securing the richest contract by an NFL running back, he has received a major honor, cracking the list of the league’s top ten players this year.
The NFL recently teased a list of players sitting in the top ten among the ‘Top 100 players of 2026’, where the star RB is the only player from the franchise. While the fans are still waiting to see where he lands eventually, one thing is confirmed — he is among the league’s top ten elites this season.
The final ranking order will be revealed from August 24 to September 4, including a grand finale of crowning the undisputed number one ranked player in the NFL, which could be Gibbs or any of the nine other players from the list.
The Los Angeles Rams have three players featured in the list— most by any franchise (Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, and Myles Garrett). Meanwhile, Gibbs is not the only running back making the top ten, as he is accompanied by the Falcons star, Bijan Robinson. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is representing the Seahawks due to his standout performance in last season’s Super Bowl-winning campaign. It also boasts the likes of Josh Allen, Christian McCaffrey, Patrick Surtain, and Micah Parsons.
The wait for the full ranking continues, but the NFL has released the latest batch of players, ranked from number 11 to 20.
NFL Reveals Players Ranked Nos. 11-20 in Latest Top 100 List
Unlike Jahmyr Gibbs, no Lions star has received a place between the top 11 and 20 rankings. It, however, has some of the biggest names across the league who have consistently done well.
The most recognized name here is the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, which is surprising considering his last year’s ranking. He was in the top five in 2025, but this year he has slipped to the 18th spot. The former NFL MVP couldn’t play the entire last season due to a torn ACL, and the Chiefs did not make the playoffs.

The New England Patriots QB Drake Maye, who had a break season last campaign, taking the franchise to the Super Bowl, is ranked 11th on the list. With 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns, he was among the elite signal-callers in the league.
Furthermore, the 11-20 list is dominated by running backs. Three top RBs— Ravens‘ Derrick Henry (15), Colts’ Jonathan Taylor (17), and Bills’ James Cook (20)— were among the players featured.
With Gibbs’ latest ranking, the expectations will be high for the Lions star this year, as he has also signed a high-value deal.
Jahmyr Gibbs’ New Role Could Take His Game to Another Level
Jahmyr Gibbs recently signed a $67.5 million contract for three years, making him the highest-paid running back in the NFL. He is a three-time Pro Bowler, and he is anticipated to be the engine of the Lions’ offense in 2026.

Previously, he split the backfield duties with David Montgomery, who went to the Houston Texans this offseason. With that, Gibbs has been handed the keys to the undisputed workhorse of the offense, with Campbell confirming he is going to be a true bell-cow. After 1,223 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns last year, he will be aiming to better those numbers, possibly surpassing his personal best of 1,412 yards in 2024.
