The Houston Texans may still have a need that Noah Brown can address, and he is back on the open market. Brown faced the Texans in Week 2 of the preseason as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, who appear to have brough him in for that contest.
“Raiders released veteran WR Noah Brown,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in a post on X on August 24.
Brown spent the 2023 season with the Texans, and he could be a fit now.

Brown, 30, was a seventh-round pick, taken 239th overall by the Texans’ in-state rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, during the 2017 draft. He has shown a knack for timely big plays, which teams like the Texans can always use on their playoff and, they hope, Super Bowl runs.
The Raiders also confirmed the news.
There is local support for the move still.
“F it. Bring him back Nick,” Garret Wiliams (Houston Stressans) posted on X on August 24, quoting Schefter’s report.
Brown caught 33 passes for 567 yards and 2 TDs with the Texans. Brown started seven of the 10 games he played in. He has spent the past two seasons in the NFC East with the Washington Commanders.
He posted five receptions for 83 yards in four games during the 2025 regular season.
Brown also started all four contests. For his career, Brown has a 155-2,083-6 line in the regular season, and a 6-58-0 mark in his six postseason appearances (one start).
Texans Bolstered WR Room

The news of Brown’s availability came amid the Texans’ moves to fortify their roster. After signing veterans Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones, the Texans traded for Kayshon Boutte, sending safety Jaylen Reed to the New England Patriots.
They are trying to compensate for the loss of Jayden Higgins, who tore his ACL in joint practice against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Moreover, neither Jaylin Noel nor Tank Dell are at full speed yet. Dell has not practiced in days.
Even if the Texans are confident they will get Noel and Dell back, it might be wise for the Texans to further bolster a group that includes Pro Bowler Nico Collins, fellow veteran Justin Watson, and youngsters Lewis Bond and Xavier Hutchinson.
Brown, listed at 6-foot-2, is also a different kind of receiver than the 5-foot-11 Boutte, so adding the latter should not necessarily preclude the Texans from taking a flier on the former.
That is, assuming both sides have some interest in a reunion.
Notably, the Texans reunited with former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney at defensive end this offseason, but they have so far passed on bringing back receiver DeAndre Hopkins. It is unclear where Brown would fall on the Texans’ scale in that regard and vice versa.
