The Texans have re-upped with Henry To'oTo'o

Training camp is in full swing, but the Houston Texans did a little bookkeeping, specifically regarding linebacker Henry To’oTo’o.

The Texans drafted To’oTo’o in the fifth round of the 2023 draft. A former Tennessee Volunteer and Alabama Crimson Tide standout, To’oTo’o has been a full-time starter for the Texans for the past two seasons.

Now, he is locked in for the foreseeable future.

GettyHenry To’oTo’o secured a payday with the Texans.

To’oTo’o was the 167th overall pick of the 2023 draft, and he has started 35 of the 46 games that he has played in for the Texans so far.

He figures to pad his numbers following a new multi-year contract extension.

“The #Texans agreed to terms with LB Henry To’oTo’o on a two-year $16 million extension, per me and @RapSheet,” NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported on X on August 6. “To’oTo’o, 25, gets paid with a chance to do another deal in a few years. He can earn $1m more in incentives on this deal negotiated by @RyanWilliamsA1 of @AthletesFirst.”

To’oTo’o has logged 261 total tackles, 4.0 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries, and 1 interception in his career.

He gives the Texans a strong duo alongside Pro Bowler and team captain Azeez Al-Shaair.

The timing of To’oTo’o’s deal is also noteworthy. It comes before the Texans took care of at least one more prominent player in C.J. Stroud, and beats what could have been a strong market for his services in free agency once he got there.

As has often been the case, the Texans were early, getting a deal done with To’oTo’o with one season remaining on his rookie deal.

Henry To’oTo’o Cashed In Earlier This Offseason

GettyHenry To’oTo’o continues to prove his worth.

To’oTo’o was pegged as a player whom the Texans could look to extend, along with some of their other dealings this offseason.

“He’s had a very productive first three seasons and has begun to embrace the leadership role,” Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox wrote on July 5. “It’ll be a mild surprise if he doesn’t get a new deal in the coming months.”

Moreover, he cashed in earlier this offseason.

#Texans leader in performance-based payout: linebacker Henry To’oTo’o @HenryTootoo1 $971,024,” KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported on X in March.
