The Los Angeles Rams have seen the trend go in their favor regarding Aaron Donald, but the 10-time Pro Bowler has yet to give them a firm answer.
There could be a good reason for that.
Donald has been away from the game for two years. And while he has remained in shape, getting into peak physical form for the rigors of an NFL season–which the Rams hope ends with a trip to the Super Bowl–is a far different endeavor altogether.

Donald drew attention on Friday, similar to how he did when he was spotted walking off one of the Rams’ practice fields following a workout. This time, Donald was back in LA, but seen working out at UCLA’s facilities.
Moreover, he had on a Rams helmet. There was some debate over whether the footage was recent, though. Some were also unsure if the helmet he had on had white or yellow horns.
Then, footage surfaced of Donald speaking to a group of children.
“Caught Aaron Donald @ UCLA training today,” the fan who shared the workout video posted on X in a separate post on August 7. “This gives me a feeling he is definitely coming back. My lil nephews asked the question. Let’s go!!”
One child asked Donald directly, “Are you unretiring?”
“I don’t know yet,” Donald responded in the five-second clip, adding, “We gone see” before another child says, “Come on, bro,” at which everyone erupted in laughter.

Rams head coach Sean McVay lauded Donald’s approach, saying the legend has “got such an intentional routine and rhythm.”
“He’s had his same speed trainer that he’s worked out with throughout his whole career that he has back at home or back in Pittsburgh that he’s brought out hereMcVay said on Thursday, per Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva on August 7. “He’s taking great care of himself, as we all know. Getting ready to play football and just working out the way that he has, there’s a little bit of a different rhythm and routine. Anything that he does, like I’ve shared with you guys, he’s going to do it with everything that he’s got.”
Donald’s efforts paint a suggestive picture about his intentions.
However, the Rams remain in a holding pattern on a final decision from Donald, who appears to have genuinely not made up his mind. He previously remarked about no longer having the desire put in all the work necessary to practice and make to and through game days.
In that sense, his latest efforts are as encouraging as anything Donald has said or done over the past two seasons.
