The Miami Dolphins finished the 2025 season with a 7-10 record, their worst since the 2019 season. While things may seem bleak for Dolphins fans, the NFL has shown that fortunes can turn around in an instant. Owner Stephen Ross hopes that to be the case with the Dolphins as he hired a new general manager and a new head coach after the team failed to meet expectations in 2025.
As presently constructed, the team has plenty of holes that need to be addressed, including the team’s starting quarterback. Regarding that position, new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan previously said, “You always have to be assessing your quarterback situation, making sure that you have a quarterback that you can win with.” While the quarterback position will draw the majority of the headlines in Miami, the Dolphins have significant contributors on other positions that will help Miami’s next quarterback.
Dolphins Players Receive Good News
Despite the disappointing overall result, the Dolphins’ season had some bright spots and stellar individual play. Two of those players already earned praise as they secured All-Pro honors. Now, ESPN has come up with a list of the 100 Most Valuable Players in the 2025 season, which includes four Dolphins players.
The Dolphins players on the list were linebacker Jordyn Brooks at No. 55, De’Von Achane at No. 88, Jaylen Waddle at No. 94, and Aaron Brewer at No. 97. Regarding Brewer, ESPN’s Seth Walder wrote, “Brewer had a great season, and his blocking helped the running game be the best part of the Dolphins’ season. He was good to the point that he almost beat out Creed Humphrey for first-team All-Pro honors at center (Brewer ended up on the second team). But the feedback I got from a few folks in the league wasn’t quite as strong — they felt he had a good season but wasn’t on Humphrey’s level.”
For Dolphins fans, the selections did not come as a surprise, as those four Miami players were clearly the team’s best. However, the surprising aspect comes when you compare that to the 2024 Dolphins. Despite winning one more game in 2024, only one Dolphins player appeared in that year’s list, defensive lineman Calais Campbell, who left the team in free agency following the season. The 2023 Dolphins, who made the playoffs, had five players in the top 100, including two in the top 20. Those players were Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Ramsey, Bradley Chubb, and Christian Wilkins.

Fortunately for the Dolphins, the four players selected this year seem like something the team can build on. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan seemed to agree with that sentiment as he named Brooks, Brewer, and Achane building blocks for the team.
While he did not mention wide receiver Jaylen Waddle as a building block, he did praise the Dolphins wide receiver. Sullivan said, “(Waddle) is an explosive athlete. His ability to create separation at the top of the route is as good as any. Obviously, Achane’s production speaks for itself. He’s a three-down back. He can strike from anywhere on the field. He’s a home run guy.”
