The New England Patriots parted ways with Stefon Diggs after the 2025 season and, while adding Romeo Doubs on a four-year deal, still need some more depth at the position.
All eyes are on the Pats trading for Philadelphia Eagles star AJ Brown, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter noting that a deal likely will happen on or after June 1st (cap issues for Philly).
Still needing to focus on the depth at wide receiver soon rather than later, one draft analyst believes the Patriots can address this issue with the 2026 NFL Draft.
Patriots Predicted to Add Texas A&M Star

Drake Maye improved from his rookie season to his second, finishing second in MVP voting. Now entering his third season in the league, the New England Patriots could land him another weapon for 2026.
Draft analyst Todd McShay dropped his final mock and predicts the Pats will take Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion with the 31st overall pick.
“Concepcion is one of the most underrated prospects in this class, and someone who I think can be a year-one impact receiver for Drake Maye in New England. He’d be a great complement to A.J. Brown, and the two of them would revamp the Patriots’ passing attack overnight,” McShay wrote.
New England brought in Concepcion on an NFL 30 visit back in March, highlighting their interest in the wide receiver.
The soon-to-be draft pick played his final collegiate season with the Aggies, hauling in 919 yards and 9 touchdowns on 61 receptions. Throughout his college career, the wide receiver logged 2,218 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. The WR was also used in the run game throughout his time with NC State and Texas A&M, rushing for 255 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Concepcion penned a letter to GMs around the league, saying that they won’t regret calling his name.
“I do want to say, once again, for all to hear, that I’m the best receiver in this draft. But, at the end of the day, I’m so much more than just a football player. And any team that picks me is going to realize that immediately. So if you’re a GM out there reading this, put me on your team, and let’s get to work,” Concepcion wrote in the letter to The Players Tribune.
This year’s draft class has many notable wide receivers, with as many as 5 possibly being selected. Other mock drafts had KC Concepcion going as high as the early teen picks.
Pats’ Eliot Wolf on Draft Class

With the draft now closing in, Patriots de facto general manager Eliot Wolf took to the podium to share his thoughts with this year’s draft class.
“Receiver and tight end are pretty good in comparison to some of the recent years. So, we’re excited about some of these opportunities, and there are some matchups to some positions of need for us,” Wolf said, via the NFL.
“If we do our job and we do everything right, we’re going to be able to get a good player with every pick, and that’s our intention… I feel that way about every draft. No matter what happens, there are always avenues and ways to improve the team.”
Wolf’s positive words about the receivers and the NFL 30 visit reveal the Pats could go with a receiving threat in the first round, with KC Concepcion being a likely target.
