The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles spent two days testing each other during joint practices.

Saturday night will give the bottom half of both rosters an occasion to make an impression.

It could also produce a game where points come at a premium.

Philadelphia is a 2.5-point road favorite ahead of the 7 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium, per the Action Network’s latest odds board.

The Eagles were -111 against the spread and -135 on the moneyline early Saturday, while New England was +2.5 at -115 and +112 outright. The over-under was 36.5.

That spread has made a notable turn. Philadelphia opened as a 1.5-point underdog before moving through pick’em and into favorite territory.

Still, the total presents the more appealing side of the matchup.

Patriots-Eagles Total Looks More Appealing Than Spread

New England has no incentive to put Drake Maye at risk after two joint practices against Philadelphia.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Saturday morning that Maye is unlikely to play, setting up another extended evaluation of the Patriots’ backup quarterbacks.

Tommy DeVito played the entire first half of New England’s preseason opener and completed 13 of 22 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown. Rookie Behren Morton went 7 of 13 for 66 yards after halftime as the Patriots finished in a 13-13 tie with the Indianapolis Colts.

Philadelphia’s first exhibition game put even less offense on display.

The Eagles lost 24-7 to the Baltimore Ravens and didn’t score until the fourth quarter. Tanner McKee completed 6 of 10 attempts for 35 yards, while Philadelphia’s three quarterbacks combined for only 92 passing yards.

Those performances make Under 36.5 the preferred play. The joint practices also allowed both coaching staffs to give their starters meaningful competitive work without needing to extend them Saturday.

Prediction: Eagles 20, Patriots 16.

Kalshi, Polymarket Offer Patriots-Eagles Props

Prediction markets are painting a tighter picture than the traditional point spread.

Kalshi listed Philadelphia with a 52% chance to win on Saturday morning compared with 48% for New England. Its spread market gave the Eagles a 47% chance of winning by more than 2.5 points, as a Philadelphia victory by more than 1.5 sat at 49%.

Kalshi’s total market put the probability of more than 36.5 points at 49%, giving the under a slight edge.

Polymarket was similarly close, pricing Philadelphia around 53% to win and New England around 48%.

The prediction market also provides useful alternatives with individual preseason player props still thinner than a normal regular-season menu.

Polymarket offers a Patriots team total of 17.5, an Eagles team total of 19.5 and first-half totals beginning at 18.5.

The Patriots team total Under 17.5 is the best prop of that group. New England produced 13 points in its opener, Maye is unlikely to play and the backup offense managed one touchdown across four quarters.

All in all, Philadelphia has become the market favorite, but a low-scoring game is the stronger wager.
