The New York Giants claimed wide receiver Ryan Miller off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The New York Giants made an under-the-radar move ahead of their Week 15 matchup with the Washington Commanders, swiping wide receiver Ryan Miller from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fox Sports Bucs insider Greg Auman relayed the news on December 11, stating: “Receiver Ryan Miller, cut by the Bucs on Wednesday, has been claimed by the Giants.”

Later, the Giants confirmed the roster move, which Auman referred to as a “tough loss for the Bucs [losing a] special-teams standout who has one touchdown catch this season.”

You see, Tampa Bay was attempting to sneak Miller back onto their practice squad after the return of starters Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan, but the Giants acted quickly to prevent that.

Miller is a plus-special teamer and serviceable wide receiver. He’ll have the next several weeks, and potentially, the spring and summer offseason programs to prove that he deserves a full-time role on Big Blue’s 53-man roster in 2026.

New Giants WR Ryan Miller Had a Mini-Breakout Season With Buccaneers in 2024

Giants make news with Ryan Miller claim in Week 15.

Considering his undrafted status out of Furman, Miller had a mini-breakout with the Buccaneers last year.

He recorded 12 catches for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2024, his second season in the NFL. Unfortunately, that little spurt of offensive impact didn’t quite transfer over into 2025.

Miller was an important piece for the Bucs on special teams, but he has not done much offensively this year.

Tampa Bay had several injuries at wide receiver early in the season, and yet Miller only registered 2 catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. We’ll see if he’s able to crack the Giants’ wide-open depth chart at wide receiver.

Giants Announce Return of Beaux Collins Amid Week 15 Injury News

Speaking of the Giants’ WR corps, camp standout and undrafted rookie Beaux Collins returned to practice this week. Collins had been sidelined on the injured reserve with a neck/concussion issue, but he appears to be working his way back from those injuries.

On December 12, Giants team reporter Matt Citak announced that Collins has been ruled out for Week 15, so the rookie’s return will have to wait at least one more game.

As always, Big Blue will have 21 days to activate Collins from the injured reserve, but they’ll need to free up a roster spot when they choose to do so.

With the Giants claiming Miller, it’s unclear if another wide receiver could be the odd man out once Collins is healthy.

The G-Men currently have several IR players who were designated to return to practice. That means each week could be an audition as the bottom of this NYG roster fights for their jobs.

A Look at the NYG WRs Ahead of Commanders Rematch

The NYG wide receiver room has been a clear weak spot this season without rising superstar Malik Nabers.

Fourth-year pro Wan’Dale Robinson has probably been the best of the bunch, but players like Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, and even Collins have been largely disappointing.

The Giants brought back veteran Isaiah Hodgins just because their current pass-catchers weren’t getting the job done for quarterback Jaxson Dart, and now they’re signing another veteran in Miller.

It’s blatantly obvious that Big Blue must upgrade its WR corps in 2026, even with Nabers returning. Anything less than two or three legitimate playmakers is doing a disservice to Dart’s development.
