The New York Jets, despite their best efforts, remain a complete mess of a franchise. In their first year with Aaron Glenn as their new head coach, the Jets remained one of the worst teams in the league, thanks in large part to their abysmal quarterback situation and a defense that was allergic to forcing turnovers.
The past couple of decades have been very tough on Jets fans, and nobody knows this better than wealthy entrepreneur, Gary Vaynerchuk. A lifelong New York fan, Vaynerchuk has remained with the team throughout its highs and lows, and recently revealed that he wants to buy the team in an effort to help them win a Super Bowl.

Vaynerchuk, who is better known as Gary Vee, is a popular internet personality who is known for his work as a businessman and entrepreneur. Growing up in New York, Vaynerchuk has always been a big Jets fan, but he hasn’t witnessed his favorite team have much success during his time following them, as their only Super Bowl victory came before he was born.
New York’s struggles have been due in large part to its inability to find a franchise quarterback. Every single time the Jets bring a new, highly-touted quarterback to town, they seem to fail. Making matters even worse, this appears to be an issue with the team, rather than the quarterbacks, as one of their failed development projects, Sam Darnold, has led the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl this year.
The Jets have been owned by Woody Johnson since 2000, and while he’s received his fair share of criticism in recent years, it doesn’t appear he intends to sell the team anytime soon. Vaynerchuk’s desire to buy the team, though, isn’t because he dislikes Johnson, but rather his goal to see his favorite team win a Super Bowl.
“It’s been my life goal to buy and bring the Jets a Super Bowl like January 12, 1969, one of the great days of all time,” Vaynerchuk said in an interview on NewsNation’s “CUOMO.” “Yeah, it’s a big goal of mine. And obviously, there’s so many things that are out of my control, but I focus day to day on what I control to get there.”

While Vaynerchuk certainly has the business acumen and the money to put together a strong offer for the Jets, the main problem with his quest to buy the team is that it isn’t on the market, and it doesn’t appear set to be on the market anytime soon. Vaynerchuk knows that the likelihood of this happening is low, and yet, that isn’t deterring him from working on making it happen.
Unfortunately for Vaynerchuk, pretty much everything would have to fall his way in order for this to come to fruition, and the odds of that happening are low. For now, New York’s primary goal involves finding a way to improve its roster so that it doesn’t endure another miserable season in 2026, but should the team ever end up getting sold, expect Vaynerchuk to be among the most serious bidders.
