The Seattle Seahawks are sharing news about the team's upcoming NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seattle Seahawks are moments away from the NFC championship game, which takes place on Sunday, January 25, against the Los Angeles Rams at home. It’s down to these two teams in the NFC West competing to go to the big game, and the Seahawks are favored going into the game, thanks to their No. 1 place in the NFC and overall strong showing during the 2025-26 season.

They say that defense wins games, and that’s been the case for the Seattle Seahawks, as they’re in their second year under head coach Mike Macdonald, who is known for his strong defensive-minded coaching. Macdonald came from the Baltimore Ravens, where he served as their defensive coordinator, and he’s already leading the Seahawks to a historic season.

“That’s the message he was sending,” outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu said of Macdonald’s first meeting with the team back in 2024. “I remember when I first got to Seattle, I’d never really pictured that. It had always just been like, ‘Let’s go, let’s have a good year, let’s everybody get right, everybody come prepared, ready to play.’ But when we first got in the room, he talked about, ‘Picture yourself there.'”

He added, “And that’s an important part of playing football, visualization, so for him to start off the meeting with that, you know where his mind is, you know what his vision is. He sees the pieces that he has on the team, he sees where his team’s capable of going, and with the right coaching we can reach that goal, and he was able to put that play in in two years.”

Seattle Seahawks News Ahead of NFC Championship

So, the Seattle Seahawks are getting ready for their big moment, and now, they’ve made an announcement about the NFC championship game against the Los Angeles Rams.

On Friday, January 23, the team announced that “the greatest enforcer of all time, Kam Chancellor, is our honorary captain for the NFC Championship Game.”

So, Chancellor will be at the game, in all of his glory. “Well deserved Chancellor,” one follower said on X. “Kam Chancellor: the real MVP,” another added.

About a Seattle Seahawks Icon

“Simply put, Chancellor was one of the most important players during the best era in franchise history,” the Seahawks shared of Chancellor on the team’s official website. “A fifth-round pick thought by many to be too big and too slow to play safety in the NFL, Chancellor thrived in Seattle as part of the Legion of Boom defense, setting the tone with his intimidating, physical play.”

They added, “The author of some of the most memorable hits in franchise history, Chancellor was the alpha in a locker room full of them, and one of the few players who Pete Carroll said ever maxed out on the “competitor scale” he and John Schneider used to help evaluate players.”

The Seahawks add that Chancellor’s Kam Cares Foundation helps “equip children from underserved communities in Hampton Roads and Seattle areas with educational, health, and wellness tools and resources to position students for greater academic success.”
