Bruins Goalie Jeremy Swayman’s Career Background

Swayman grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, in a hockey household. His father, a podiatrist, served the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves as a volunteer physician, and Swayman attended Alaska Anchorage games from infancy before working as the team’s stick boy.

Boston selected him in the fourth round, 111th overall, in 2017, taking him out of the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL. Swayman then played at the University of Maine, where he won the 2019-20 Mike Richter Award as the top goaltender in NCAA Division I and finished as a Hobey Baker Award finalist.

Swayman debuted in 2020-21, going 7-3-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average in 10 games. He shared the William M. After Ullmark was traded, Swayman took over as the clear No. 1 and signed an eight-year, $66 million contract in October 2024.

Internationally, Swayman started for the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, where the Americans won their first gold at a standalone men’s worlds in 92 years. He added an Olympic gold medal at the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina.
