On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers will continue their series with the St. Louis Cardinals in Missouri.

The Dodgers are coming off a 7-2 loss on Friday.

Their offense has been a problem over the last week.

Katie Woo of The Athletic wrote: “The Cardinals beat the Dodgers, 7-2. Another lackluster night for the offense. The Dodgers left seven on and went 0-for-5 with RISP. Los Angeles has lost 8 of their last 12 games. It just has not been a good stretch of ball for this club.”

Dodgers Should Trade For Former All-Star

One player the Dodgers should look to acquire is Marcell Ozuna.

The three-time All-Star is off to a very slow start to his stint with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

That said, he is coming off a year where he hit 21 home runs and 68 RBI’s for the Atlanta Braves.

@RobBballHistory wrote (on May 1): “Marcell Ozuna hit his 299th career HR, passing Matt Olson and Mark Reynolds and moved into a tie with Tim Salmon for 166th on the All Time HR list.”

Ozuna is currently batting .165 with three home runs, ten RBI’s and seven runs.

Based on his production, it’s possible the Pirates would be willing to give him up for little to nothing.

For the Dodgers, they would be getting an ideal rental to have as depth for their playoff run.

He also has a contract that they could move off of in 2027.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote (on February 9): “Designated hitter Marcell Ozuna and the Pittsburgh Pirates are in agreement on a one-year, $12 million contract with a mutual option for 2027, sources tell ESPN. The deal will pay Ozuna $10.5M this year with a $16M option that has a $1.5M buyout. @JonHeyman was first on the news.”

Ozuna’s Career

Ozuna spent the first five seasons of his career with the Miami Marlins (making two All-Star Games in that span).

The 35-year-old then played two seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals.

With the Braves, Ozuna made one more All-Star Game, and helped them make the MLB playoffs five times.

As recently as 2024, he was fourth in National League MVP voting.

Dodgers Right Now

Despite their recent slumping offense, the Dodgers are still at the top of the National League West with a 20-12 record in 32 games.

They are 8-6 in 14 games on the road.

After the Cardinals, the Dodgers will open up a series with the Houston Astros on Monday in Texas.
