In what is sure to be one of the biggest matches of the year, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will collide in a highly anticipated semifinal match on Arthur Ashe Stadium court.
Alcaraz is currently in pursuit of his second US Open title, while on the flip side, Djokovic is looking to capture an elusive 25th Grand Slam.
Over the past two weeks, Alcaraz has looked as dominant as ever, rattling off win after win without dropping a set. In his most recent match, the world No. 2 managed to defeat Jiri Lehecka, advancing him to the semifinals in Flushing Meadows for the first time since 2023.
On the flip side, Novak Djokovic has continued to impress in his own right. Despite the fact that he’s been on the sidelines since Wimbledon, the all-time great has played himself into form, most recently beating top-ranked American Taylor Fritz in a gritty quarterfinal performance on Tuesday night.
Djokovic vs. Alcaraz H2H
Heading into Friday’s semifinal clash, Novak Djokovic leads the head-to-head over Carlos Alcaraz 5-3.
Additionally, the 24-time Grand Slam champ is also riding a two-match win streak into Friday’s showdown, with wins over Alcaraz in the gold medal match of the 2024 Paris Olympics and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
While it’s been more than a year since Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in the 2024 Wimbledon final, the world No. 2 spoke about the possibility of facing off with his longtime rival leading up to the Serbian star’s quarterfinal match with Taylor Fritz on Tuesday night.
As he explained to members of the press:
“Novak, we all know Novak’s game. It doesn’t matter that he has been out of the tour since Wimbledon. [He’s] playing great matches here. I know he’s hungry his ambition for more. So let’s see. I know he and I played a lot of times against him. I really want to revenge, that’s [obvious].”
While Alcaraz trails the head-to-head, it’ll be interesting to see if the 22-year-old star is able to come up big on Friday.
Novak Djokovic vs. Carlos Alcaraz Odds & Prediction
Despite the 24-time Grand Slam holding a 4-1 record against Alcaraz across their five most recent meetings, bettors are backing Alcaraz to get the job done.
This is likely because, although Djokovic has come up big when he needs it most, such as in the fourth set against Fritz, the all-time great has also shown his age at times.
With Alcaraz’s superior conditioning, it seems fans think the Spanish star will avenge his two most recent losses.
