UFC lightweight contender Max Holloway ripped rival Conor McGregor, whom he called “delusional” for making excuses after his UFC 329 loss.

Holloway defeated McGregor via first-round TKO after McGregor tore his right ACL in their UFC 329 main event fight in July.

Following the bout, McGregor suggested that the Octagon canvas was slippery, which could have led to his injury.

But Holloway says these are just excuses from the Irishman.

Max Holloway Blasts Conor McGregor

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Holloway blasted McGregor for the excuses he’s made in the wake of his UFC 329 defeat.

“It’s just crazy for the dude to be talking about how it was slippery because of the dry ice. I don’t know what he’s talking about because I didn’t fall. Him talking about this ‘generational beating’. Dude is delusional because to me, he felt slow in there. He looked old. If there was gonna be a generational beating, it wasn’t gonna be on his end,” Holloway said.

What’s Next for Max Holloway?

After their fight at UFC 329 ended prematurely due to McGregor’s injury, Holloway said that he wants to fight him in a trilogy bout in 2027 when McGregor returns from injury.

While Holloway obviously wants to make another big payday by fighting the sport’s biggest superstar again, he will have to wait another year for the McGregor trilogy bout to happen due to McGregor recovering from his ACL surgery.

While Holloway might be willing to wait that long, it’s unclear if the UFC would be willing to have one of their biggest draws sitting on the sidelines while he’s fully healthy.

We know that the UFC has problems right now finding headliners for their big-numbered events, and Holloway is certainly someone who can headline a card. So while he might be ready to sit out and wait a year for McGregor, the UFC might not feel the same way.

If Holloway does fight again in the meantime, look for him to get paired up with another one of the top UFC lightweight contenders, such as Paddy Pimblett or potentially a rematch against Topuria at lightweight this time.
