UFC legend Max Holloway says that he wants to get a title shot in his next fight, either at 155 lbs or 170 lbs.
Holloway is coming off a first-round TKO win over Conor McGregor at UFC 329 in July. In the immediate aftermath of the bout, he said that he wants to fight McGregor in a trilogy bout, even suggesting he would wait a year to get the fight as McGregor heals up from his torn ACL.
However, while Holloway is still open to waiting for McGregor, he’s also open to fighting for the belt, either at lightweight or welterweight.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Holloway said that he wants to fight either UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje or UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev in his next fight.
“If it’s Conor next year, great. I got a win at 170… I got history with the 155 champ… if it’s a title shot at either weight class, sign your boy up. If it’s a Conor McGregor fight again, I’ll sign the dotted line,” Holloway said.

Will the UFC Grant Max Holloway a Title Shot?
While Holloway may want a title shot, his getting one depends on what the UFC matchmakers decide to do.
The Hawaiian does have a previous KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, so of the two belts that Holloway is chasing, the lightweight title seems to be the more likely scenario for him, even though the Holloway fight took place at 170 lbs.
But Gaethje is taking some time off right now, and when he returns, the expectation is that he will fight the winner of the UFC 331 co-main event between Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy.
Still, Holloway remains in the mix at 155 lbs since he is a big name and holds a previous knockout win over Gaethje.
As for a title shot at 170 lbs, it seems very unlikely for Holloway to get one, since Makhachev has two legitimate title challengers in Carlos Prates and Michael Morales sitting and waiting for a title shot in the UFC welterweight division, so Holloway would be waiting a long time.
