Over the course of the WNBA season, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has all the attention on her on and off the court.
Other players in the league know that Clark is going to be the focal point in games. Sometimes that makes it tough for Clark to take over a game, but it also helps her get support from her teammates.
All season, one teammate in particular has helped significantly on offense. Clark continues to acknowledge how important her Fever teammate is to this franchise.

Clark and the Fever are coming off an 113-90 win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday night. Clark led the game with 37 points. After the game, Clark shifted the focus to her fellow guard, Kelsey Mitchell, after Mitchell’s 30-point performance and how she helped Clark.
“I think it takes the pressure off me a lot, especially in moments like this. Like, you get tired when the game’s played at the pace that it is, and, you know, you can hit her on a cut, you can give her the ball in an iso situation. Like, she just makes it so easy for me in the backcourt, and she obviously, like, pulls the defense to her quite a bit. So just try to find her the most I can, and I think she had 7 points at halftime, so 23 in the second half is pretty incredible. And, like, it’s just like nobody like Bats and I. Like, I don’t think people understand how hard that is to do, and she just does it consistently on a night-to-night basis. So it’s been fun to get to see up close.”

Mitchell shot 10-of-19 from the field and hit 6 of her 9 three-point attempts in the victory. She also added 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block.
This season, Mitchell is second in the WNBA in scoring with 24.8 points, trailing behind Las Vegas Aces‘ A’ja Wilson. Mitchell also averages 2.8 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.

When the Fever’s offense needs a boost, Clark can always turn to Mitchell to help be the main scorer. It helps that Mitchell has scored at least 20 points in 23 straight games, a WNBA record.
Throughout the season, Clark and Mitchell have been the best guard duo in the league. They might even go down as the best in WNBA history at this rate. Clark and Mitchell own the league record for most games by teammates with each scoring at least 30 points in a contest three times.
Few teams can slow these two down. If the Fever want any shot at winning the WNBA title, they will need Clark and Mitchell to complement each other well on the court and keep scoring at a historic rate.
