Rousey and Correia were involved in several heated exchanges of words leading up to the fight, including when Correia made a reference about Rousey’s father’s suicide. Rousey wanted to send a message and did just that, improving to 12-0 in her career and knocking Correia (9-1) from the ranks of the undefeated.
Rousey came out swinging right from the start of the fight. After Correia stumbled to the ground, Rousey jumped on her against the cage, delivering a series of punches to the head and body, before landing a knee to the stomach. As Correia moved away from the champion, Rousey delivered a devastating blow to her temple and then followed up with a second shot to the head, knocking Correia out and ending the match.
