Rodriguez signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reports. Rodriguez spent most of 2025 with Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate, where he slashed .247/.320/.323 with eight homers, 33 RBI, 53 runs scored and 17 steals across 531 plate appearances. The 24-year-old outfielder has yet to make his MLB debut and will likely begin 2026 at Triple-A El Paso.

Carlos Rodríguez: Breaking News
Outrighted to Triple-A
Atlanta outrighted Rodriguez to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday. Rodriguez spent the entirety of the 2025 season on Atlanta's 40-man roster, but he never made it to the big leagues, hitting .247/.317/.323 with eight homers and 17 steals in 128 games during his time with Gwinnett. The 24-year-old will remain in the organization as outfield depth.
Optioned to Gwinnett
Atlanta optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. Rodriguez was able to secure a major-league contract from Atlanta during the offseason despite having just 31 games of Triple-A experience from his time in the Brewers organization. Unsurprisingly, he'll head back to the minors to begin the 2025 campaign, though the 24-year-old could crack the majors if Atlanta runs into depth problems with its big-league outfield.
