Sborz signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Thursday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Sborz was released by the Rangers on Monday after putting up an 8.16 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 14.1 innings at Triple-A Round Rock. The 32-year-old righty will now return to the organization after testing the free-agent market, but he'll need to turn things around dramatically to have any chance at returning to the majors for the first time since 2024.
The Rangers released Sborz on Monday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Sborz has spent most of the season with Triple-A Round Rock and hasn't appeared in a big-league game since the 2024 regular season. Across 16.1 minor-league innings to start 2026, Sborz has pitched to a 7.16 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB. The 32-year-old will look for an opportunity elsewhere.
The Rangers reassigned Sborz to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. Sborz fell short in his bid for a spot in the Texas bullpen after yielding five earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out eight batters across nine innings during the Cactus League. The right-hander will likely to slot into a high-leverage role in the Round Rock bullpen and could merit consideration for a call-up if he's able to recapture the form that he displayed before undergoing shoulder surgery in November 2024.
