Logan O'Hoppe: Breaking News

The Angels placed O'Hoppe on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left wrist fracture. O'Hoppe departed Saturday's game against the Royals after being struck by a foul tip behind the plate. The 26-year-old is without an official timeline for his return, but it seems likely he'll be sidelined beyond the 10-day minimum. Travis d'Arnaud should step in as the Halos' primary catcher while O'Hoppe is on the shelf. Sebastian Rivero was called up Sunday to take over the backup job.

O'Hoppe was removed from Saturday's game against the Royals due to left wrist irritation. While playing defense in the bottom of the seventh, O'Hoppe took a foul ball directly off his exposed left wrist on his catching hand and was in obvious pain. Prior to leaving, O'Hoppe went 0-for-3 at the plate. Travis d'Arnaud has replaced him behind the plate.

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. After going 1-for-4 with a solo home run -- his first of the season -- while catching nine innings behind the plate in a 5-4 loss Wednesday night, O'Hoppe will get a breather for Thursday's matinee game. Travis d'Arnaud will handle catching duties for the Halos in the series finale.
