Here’s what you need to know:

1. McHugh Was Fired Over Her Tweets Following The London Terrorist Attack

McHugh posted the above tweet following the London Bridge and Borough Market Terrorist attack that left seven dead.

Actor Pej Vahdat replied, “You’re a real moron.”

McHugh responded, “You’re an Indian.” Vahdat is actually Iranian-American.

According to CNN, McHugh’s comments prompted outrage from a number of her own colleagues, who called her remarks “appalling,” “terrible,” and “dumb.”

“I said nothing wrong,” said McHugh. “As President Trump says, if we don’t get smart, it will only get worse.”

She has a history of posting racial tweets and once tweeted, “Mexicans wrecked Mexico & think the USA will magically cure them of their retarded dysfunction.LOL,” according to CNN.

This is the second time this year that a Breitbart employee has left the site after controversial comments. In February, Milo Yiannopoulos, resigned from Breitbart after his comments about pedophilia.

2. McHugh Recently Posted Against Kathy Griffin’s Tweet of Trump’s Severed Head

“The smirk on Kathy Griffin’s face is almost as sickening as the photo itself,” wrote McHugh. “How many ISIS beheading videos has this sick woman watched?”

The controversial photo led to Griffin being fired by CNN.

In another tweet, McHugh responded to a tweet commenting on Barron Trump’s reaction to the photo by saying, “Ghoulish. How do you think your daughter would react to seeing a “comedian” hold up her dad’s blood-stained, severed head on cable?”

McHugh is also in a Twitter-fued with actor Seth Rogan:

3. McHugh Was Singled Out By The Southern Poverty Law Center

In a recent article posted by the Southern Poverty Law Center, McHugh was singled out, along with other Breitbart writers as being racist. The article was written by Stephen Piggot. In the article, Piggot claims McHugh supports the “core tenets of the racist Alt-Right.” He says her twitter page is loaded with “racist rants” that include banning Muslim immigration. He calls her out for following certain Twitter feeds that he calls “white nationalists” that include a “swastika-tatooed neo-Nazi hacker.”

According to the article, “Over the past year the media outlet has been openly promoting the core issues of the Alt-Right, introducing these racist ideas to its readership – much to the delight of many in the white nationalist world who could never dream of reaching such a vast number of people.”

4. McHugh Was Originally Hired By Breitbart In 2014

McHugh was hired by Breitbart in April, 2014.

“This is as exciting a time as we’ve ever had at Breitbart,” said Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. “With every talent acquisition we are moving one step closer to realizing Andrew’s vision for having a news platform that aggressively and insightfully tells the stories that are shaping our political and cultural experience.”

“Conservative journalism means exposing the truth and giving the public the full picture, nothing less,” said McHugh. “The new media can change the world by living up to standards of honesty. I’m very proud to join the Breitbart News Network to reshape the American political conversation by airing out all the facts.”

McHugh is a Pennsylvania native who in 2013 won the Lyn Nofziger Fellowship from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.

McHugh wrote hundreds of articles for the site. Prior to joining Breitbart, she was an assistant editor at The Daily Caller.
