Williams' upcoming absence doesn't come as a surprise, as he remains unable to practice. Head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated last week that the All-Pro left tackle's recovery has been slower than the team originally expected, and it's unclear when Williams may be able to return this season, if at all. Jaylon Moore started each of the past four weeks while Williams has been sidelined and presumably will do so again Sunday.
Bosa (hip/oblique) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Bosa appeared to be trending toward not playing in Sunday's contest after downgrading from a limited practice session Wednesday to a DNP on Thursday. The Ohio State product then practiced in a limited capacity again Friday, giving himself a chance to return in Week 16. If he's unable to play through his hip and oblique injuries Sunday, Robert Beal (ankle, questionable) or Yetur Gross-Matos will likely start opposite Leonard Floyd.
Greenlaw (Achilles/knee) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Greenlaw has been dealing with soreness following his 2024 regular-season debut in the Week 15 loss to the Rams, practicing in a limited fashion throughout the week. The Arkansas product impressed in his return to the field, recording eight total tackles across 30 defensive snaps. However, if he's unable to play in Week 16, expect Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to see increased work with the Niners' first-team defense.
Mustapha (chest) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Mustapha upgraded to full practice Friday after opening the week with consecutive limited sessions, so it appears he's moved past his chest injury in time to suit up in Week 16. With 2022 First-Team All-Pro Talanoa Hufanga back from injury, Mustapha is likely to serve as the 49ers' top reserve safety Sunday.
Taylor is preparing for a larger role with fellow running back Isaac Guerendo (hamstring/foot) ruled out for Sunday's game at Miami, 95.7 The Game reports. Taylor briefly handled the lead role when Guerendo suffered a foot injury in the second half of a 38-13 win over Chicago in Week 14. Taylor played 10 consecutive snaps right after Guerendo's early exit, taking six carries for 18 yards and a TD in that span, before the 49ers pulled a bunch of starters in garbage time and let Ke'Shawn Vaughn take the final two carries. Guerendo made it back for Week 15 to take 75 percent of snaps and all 20 RB touches, but he injured his hamstring along the way and now will miss at least one week, leaving Taylor, Vaughn (practice squad) and Israel Abanikanda as the healthy RBs for an offense that's typically been extremely friendly to the position. Of course, this year's version of the San Francisco offense hasn't been nearly as powerful as the pre-2024 version, and star left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) will join Guerendo on the inactive list ahead of Sunday's road matchup with a solid Miami defense.
