Major League Baseball can be a whirlwind of emotions and feature a lot of quick turnaround for some MLB players. That has been the case for recent Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic.
Jarred Kelenic, who played with the Braves for parts of two seasons, recently elected MLB free agency after being released by the Chicago White Sox. Now, on Monday (June 1), Kelenic has found a new organization.

Today, the Texas Rangers announced that they are signing Jarred Kelenic. It will be the fourth MLB organization for the former top prospect. He’s played for the Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, and White Sox.
It’s a minor league deal for Kelenic (as it should be), and he will report to Triple-A Round Rock. So it’s not an immediate shot for the former Brave, but it wouldn’t shock anyone if he gets some MLB at-bats shortly, unless he’s putrid in the minors.
“Kelenic elected free agency this past weekend after being booted off the White Sox’s 40-man roster, and he’s managed to quickly latch on with a new organization. The outfielder slashed .226/.305/.321 with a 6:20 BB:K over 59 plate appearances during his time with the Pale Hose. Kelenic will report to Triple-A Round Rock.”
Jarred Kelenic has played in parts of six seasons, and he’s shown some positive signs in his bat, but it’s been a rough go of things lately for the former Mariners star prospect. He was once compared to Bryce Harper.

I guess it could be a good signing for the Rangers if Kelenic is finally able to find his swing again.
But his time with the Braves was pretty rocky, and Atlanta fans will remember it as a time the team dealt with several injuries.
In 2024, Kelenic was actually okay to start the season, and he finished with 15 home runs in 131 games, but he only totaled a bWAR of 0.4 and a below-average OPS+.
However, in 2025, over 24 games, Kelenic hit .167 with two home runs and just two RBIs. He’s always had a strikeout problem since debuting in 2021.
In 426 total career games, Jarred Kelenic has 50 home runs with an OPS+ of 84. The good news, I guess for the Rangers, is that Kelenic is still 26-years-old.
