Atlanta Braves Announce Ozzie Albies Decision During Marlins Series

The Atlanta Braves are slated to play the Miami Marlins for the series finale of a three-game set at Truist Park at 7:15 p.m. EDT on Thursday.

The Braves have announced their lineup for the game, and there’s a notable change involving Ozzie Albies.

Albies is not in Thursday’s lineup.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Chad Bishop wrote on X: “Walt Weiss joked recently how he always has to fight Ozzie Albies to take a day off. Looks like Weiss won Thursday – Mauricio Dubón gets the nod at second”

Albies represented Atlanta in the All-Star Game this year. The veteran second baseman is slashing .261/.311/.437 with 19 home runs, 21 doubles and 63 RBI this year.

Atlanta Braves Starting Pitcher For Marlins Finale

Martín Pérez will make the start for the Braves tonight.

The 35-year-old left-hander is 7-6 with a 3.24 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 97 1/3 innings across 21 appearances (17 starts) this season.

Miami Marlins Starting Pitcher For Braves Finale

Janson Junk will start for the Marlins tonight.

The 30-year-old right-hander is 5-6 with a 4.58 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings across 15 starts this year.

Atlanta Braves Right Now

The Braves have the second-best record in the National League at 69-45. They hold an 8 1/2-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the National League East. The club has won its last seven games.

Miami Marlins Right Now

The Miami Marlins are in third place in the National League East with a 58-57 record. They are 11 1/2 games back of the Braves for first place in the division and three games back of the Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks for the final National League Wild Card spot. The team has won six of its last 10 games.
