Bo Bichette is the talk of the town amongst MLB and Toronto Blue Jays circles. Most baseball pundits and fans are wondering where the star shortstop is going to sign between now and Spring Training. The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and the Philadelphia Phillies have all been linked to the slugger.
However, new developments have hit the streets following the Blue Jays’ agreement to terms with NPB slugger Kazuma Okamoto. Apparently, signing Okamoto hasn’t taken them out of conversations with Bichette.
Additionally, according to the Instagram accounts of some Blue Jays WAGs, Bichette is now a married man.
Bo Bichette Marries His Fiancée Alexis
Bichette is said to have married his fiancée Alexis over the weekend. Kevin Gausman‘s wife, Taylor Gausman, took to Instagram to share a few photos to mark the occasion.
The caption beneath the two photos reads, “loved celebrating mr. and mrs. bichette!!!” The post was shared late on January 4th, 2026.
In addition to Taylor Gausman being in attendance, Jessica Bassitt, the wife of Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt, also shared a different image on her Instagram stories. Several Blue Jays wives and girlfriends are featured in the photos that presumably took place at Bichette’s wedding.
Journalist Lindsay Dunn shared a photo on X taken from Kara Bieber’s social media. The image features Ernie Clement, Shane Bieber, Chris Bassitt, Max Scherzer, and Jeff Hoffman. Additionally, all of their significant others are also featured in the image.
Bichette & His Wife Avoid the Spotlight on Their Personal Lives
Back in July, it was revealed that Alexis and Bo had gotten engaged in May. When this news broke, it was also revealed that Bo and Alexis were planning to tie the knot in January 2026. It looks like this has now come to fruition.
When the couple got engaged in 2025, they did not do it to significant fanfare on social media. In fact, according to the Daily Hive, Bo does not have any social media.
Fan Reaction to Wedding
The Instagram post was shared on Reddit, where several users commented. They shared a combination of congratulations and revelations in the comments.
“He’s staying. You wouldn’t get married not knowing where you are gonna be living and working!” wrote one user.
Another commented, “Makes me wonder if this has been part of the delay in him signing, he’s been a little occupied.”
The reactions to Jessica’s Instagram post were less focused on Bichette’s future with the Blue Jays.
“Congrats Bo! Would love to see you back in a Jays uniform,” wrote on commenter.
“Woohoo! Congratulations to them,” wrote another.
Yet another fan wrote, “Congratulations to the happy couple. Best wishes for a lifetime full of love and happiness.”
The Blue Jays Sign Okamoto & DFA Depth Pitcher
Meanwhile, on January 4th, the Blue Jays made two linked announcements.
The first was the official signing of Okamoto. The two parties agreed to a four-year deal worth $60 million. For his first season, he will earn $12 million, five of which is a signing bonus. The team announced that they would hold a media availability to introduce him on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Okamoto recorded 15 home runs while boasting an OPS of 1.014 in 69 games during the 2025 season.
In a corresponding move, the team DFA’d depth pitcher Paxton Schultz. Schultz made his MLB debut in 2025. Over 13 games, he started two games while recording 28 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings.
While Bo’s future with the Blue Jays is not certain yet, things might start moving toward a resolution in a few days. That is, if the Bichette’s don’t go on a honeymoon first.
